About Us

A family business that runs alongside a working farm and sawmill, Yorkshire Oak Frames Ltd prides itself on operating its business to traditional values and good old fashioned attention to detail.

Our small team of experienced carpenters are encouraged to try their hand at the many facets of oak building production. This enables them, if they wish, to be equally adept at turning a curved log into a pair of cruck blades in the sawmill as they are at creating beautiful buildings on the workshop floor.

Working with Raw Materials

Buying the timber in the round and converting in our sawmill means we can work more closely with it incorporating features such as natural curves into the design of the building to add interest and individuality. All our frames are jointed using oak pegs.

A Time for Timber

Everybody recognises and cherishes the robust qualities associated with English Oak. Its timeless appeal and inherent properties of strength have endeared it to carpenters - and poets - for centuries. However recent exposure in the media showing the use of oak and other durable timbers by architects and other professionals in the construction industry have shown the adaptability and versatility of this centuries old building method when applied to modern designs, whether steadfastly traditional or ultra contemporary. Indeed we feel the living spaces created by this style exude a warmth and character that's hard to beat by other building methods.
